A design system is a collection of reusable components and is controlled by clear standards. They can be put together, much like a glorified lego set, to build whatever you need to create. It is a single source of truth which groups all the elements that will allow the teams to design, realise and develop a product.
A design system is not a deliverable, but a set of deliverables. It should evolve constantly with the product, the tools and the new technologies.
